Melissa J. Sydow brings to Underwood Murray deep federal and state court experience, having practiced in a variety of areas at the trial and appellate level.
Prior to joining Underwood Murray, Melissa was a senior associate for the litigation team of a civil defense firm in Orlando. She practiced a broad spectrum of civil litigation matters for over eight years. Melissa litigated and tried cases in state and federal court across the state of Florida and received positive results for her clients. During that time, Melissa also gained significant experience in defending and prosecuting complex appellate cases in federal and state court.
After earning a Master of Business Administration from Stetson University and a Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, Melissa served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit where she served as lead trial attorney for more than forty felony trials. She was responsible for all aspects of litigation and development of trial strategy through verdict. Following her time as a prosecutor, Melissa worked for several years as a civil litigator, handling matters from intake through appeal.
Melissa is a member of the Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association and International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation. She is also a member of the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar.
