Melissa J. Sydow brings to Underwood Murray deep federal and state court trial and appellate experience.
Prior to joining Underwood Murray, Melissa was a senior associate for the litigation team of a civil defense firm in Orlando where she litigated and tried cases in state and federal court across the state of Florida. During this time, she also gained significant experience prosecuting and defending complex appellate cases in federal and state court.
After earning a Master of Business Administration and a Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, Melissa served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit where she served as lead trial attorney for more than forty felony trials. She was responsible for all aspects of litigation and development of trial strategy through verdict. Following her time as a prosecutor, Melissa worked for several years as a civil litigator, handling matters from intake through appeal.
Melissa is a member of the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association, the Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association and International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation. She is also a member of the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar.
